Product Details

Vice Squad 633 is a slice of hardboiled Hong Kong cop action which was originally released back in 1979, when the new wave was starting to break and the genre was shifting to favour gritty realism over black and white heroism. Hua Ren, also responsible for the similarly themed Payoff, directed the film with action direction from Cheng Kei-Ying, who also worked on the equally tough police thriller Ironside 486,and who was an actor himself, featuring in the Billy Chong vehicle Kung Fu Zombie and Sun Chung’s Shaw Brothers classic Rendezvous with Death.

The 1970s and 1980s marked a vibrant era for Chinese kung fu movie posters, which became iconic visual representations of the genre. These posters often featured dynamic illustrations of martial artists in mid-action poses, showcasing their impressive fighting skills. Bold colors and dramatic typography emphasized the excitement and intensity of the films, while exaggerated depictions of characters added an element of fantasy.  This striking artwork not only attracted audiences to theaters but also contributed to the global popularity of kung fu cinema, influencing pop culture around the world.
