Product Details

An extremely rare and sensational Mexican one sheet for El Gabinete del Dr. Caligari, the 1962 American remake directed by Roger Kay and based on the silent German expressionist classic from 1920. This striking Spanish-language poster is not for the original 1920 film but for the campy, controversial ’60s reinterpretation starring Glynis Johns and Dan O’Herlihy.

The design leans into pulp and exploitation aesthetics, with bold red title typography and dramatic imagery of three women imprisoned behind graphic vertical bars—each describing their tormentor with lurid phrases like “¡Era cruel e indiferente después de violarme e insultarme!” (“He was cruel and indifferent after raping and insulting me!”). The bottom right corner features a classic exploitation gimmick: “¡NADIE podrá entrar o salir del teatro durante los aterradores 13 minutos finales!” (“NO ONE will be allowed to enter or leave the theater during the terrifying final 13 minutes!”).

A gritty, sensational piece of Mexican grindhouse history, appealing to collectors of:

  • Psychotronic cinema

  • Mexican lobby and one sheet posters

  • Cult horror and exploitation

  • CinemaScope-era translations of European classics

The condition appears to be Fair to Good, with visible staining, fold wear, and notable writing on the reverse—issues that do not negate its appeal for niche collectors of pulp or exploitation horror memorabilia.

Ships folded as issued. Reverse side includes theater stamps and handwritten notes typical of circulation-era prints. An evocative relic from the golden age of cine de medianoche.
